Velcro Front Opening
It's long been on my to do list to figure out how to make the Hiccups & Juice bras have a front opening and Stephie happened to ask me at just the right moment during the Christmas holidays when I had time to work it out.
The Tester - Teal Dots with White
For the tester bra I sewed the velcro the full width that the cups crossover.
The back is the same as the original bra.
And for the tester bra I sewed the velcro right to the edge of the band.
Here's what Stephie had to say when she tried it on:
"Heyyyyy! So I wore it all day yesterday and it was fab! It did get a little uncomfortable towards the end of the day, although I’m quite sensitive by the end of the day, so maybe most wouldn’t feel as uncomfortable. There was a bit of pressure on my ribs where the velcro was and it obviously doesn’t stretch. I’ve recorded a video, and in there I mention that I think the velcro could do with being a bit shorter.

Compared to the other hiccups bra, I actually found it much more comfortable, I think for me, the fact that it doesn’t stretch all the way around relieves some of the tension and is really comforting. I’m guessing that many of the people who’ll use this may be like me and for various reasons can’t use the over the head one. So the fact the stretch relieves at the front is actually really good. For this reason I think max an inch off the velcro.

In the video I’ve said where the rough part of the velcro has touched my skin. It was towards the end of the day when I started to notice it, but that was my most active time too because I was teaching online. I really think that an extended tab of plain material on the underneath layer would be a great addition. I thought that when putting it on too, because I had to really line up the velcro and it took me 3 attempts. Even with that though it was the quickest I’ve put on a bra in years!! Thank you!!

Other observations: if you don’t really press the Velcro together it makes a bit of a crunching noise when you move at first. So instructions to really smooth out the velcro might be useful to provide with the bra, to stop it talking to you for the first 30mins.
Taking it off was amazing. By the end of the day my energy is so limited and just the speed and simplicity of opening the Velcro at the front honestly made me well up - thank you.

Honestly, thank you so so so much for letting me test this for you. It’s amazing and I’d defo buy more, even without the little modifications suggested.
It’s a real game changer for people like me, so thank you so much for putting the effort in to trying this."

I'm so pleased that Stephie loved it so much! Thanks to her feedback I'm now adding a popper at each end of the band and shortening the velcro by an inch for optimum comfort as you can see in the one I made for Fiona yesterday:
The Final Article - Rainbow Galaxy Clouds with Hot Pink
You order as normal and simply choose the 'velcro front opening' instead of the 'over head' finish option.
I'm so pleased to be able to expand the choices on offer at Hiccups & Juice to be able to give even more people comfy colourful clothes that they love to wear.
The velcro closure is particularly useful if you have flexibility issues or some disabilities.
And I couldn't put it better than Stephie so I'll let her words conclude this blog post.
